India, COVID and the Right to Food

Professor Dipa Sinha, from Ambedkar University -Delhi (AUD) and the Right to Food Campaign-India, speaks on the impacts of the COVID lockdown in India on the food and nutrition status of the working classes. She explains how the government's response has been inadequate in dealing with the food crisis emerging out of the lockdown. At the same time the regime is pushing for greater corporatisation of Indian agriculture. She makes the case for a re-imagination of the procurement and distribution system by including diverse crops, greater decentralisation and universal coverage.
