Delhi University's FYUP: Unprepared For First Day of Class
Even as DU students are set for their first day of class on July 24th, professors feel unprepared for the lectures. Despite protests from students, teachers and activists, DU has implemented the Four-Year Undergraduate Program (FYUP), replacing the earlier three-year course. While some students don't understand the change and dismiss the concern, stating DU as a 'brand name,' others have criticized it as a 'market-oriented approach' to education, and are clueless about selecting their foundational courses or minors. Professors feel the incoming First Year students will be treated as 'guinea pigs' since there are no resource materials for the new courses. As a follow up to 'Delhi University: the four year itch", Newsclick talks to students, parents and professors during DU admissions.
