Cartoon Click: Coming Soon, a ‘Model’ Upgrade!

The much-hyped ‘Gujarat Model’ of development, applauded by industrialists and corporates, catapulted Narendra Modi to the Prime Minister’s seat. But, there are many state governments, such as Kerala, who have ‘models’ that are known worldwide for working for the development of all citizens, especially those from the vulnerable sections.

 Now, with a new Congress government in place in Karnataka, the BJP’s ‘model’ is yet again being replaced by an ‘inclusive’ one, with the Siddaramaiah cabinet deciding to amend the Karnataka Right to Freedom of Religion Bill, 2021.

Known as the anti-conversion Bill, it was opposed by the Opposition parties, Muslim and Christian groups, yet was passed in September 2022, without widespread public debate.
