Asian Games 2023: Indian Dressage Team Wins Gold, Total Medals up to 14

India has started strongly in the ongoing Asian Games 2023. The 19th edition of the competition is being held in Hangzhou, China, from September 23 to October 8. Today (September 26) is the third day of the competition.
So far, India has secured 14 medals in various competitions, which places the country in the sixth position in the medals tally behind China, Republic of Korea, Japan, Uzbekistan and Hong Kong China.
The highest number of medals for India has come from Shooting and Rowing events (five each), followed by Cricket (1), Sailing (2) and Equestrian (1). The three gold medals have been secured in Shooting, Cricket and Equestrian events.
The first medal for India came from shooting, where the team of Ashi Chouksey, Mehuli Ghosh and Ramita Jindal secured the silver medal in the Women's 10m air rifle team event. This was followed by a silver medal in Rowing by Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh in Men's Lightweight double sculls events.
Babu Lal Yadav and Lekh Ram secured the bronze medal in Rowing in the Men's pair event. A team of eight Indian rivers then won the silver medal in Rowing in the Men's eight event.
Ramita Jindal won the Bronze medal in shooting in the Women's 10m air rifle event.
The first gold for the country came in shooting when five Indian shooters won their Men's 10m air rifle team event.
As mentioned above, shooting and rowing events have brought the most joy for Indian athletes so far. Indian athletes won two Bronze medals in Rowing in Men's four and Men's quadruple events, respectively. At the same time, the shooting team also brought fresh laurels and added to the medal tally with two bronze medals in Men's 10m air rifle and Men's 25m rapid file pistol team.
The second gold medal was secured by the Indian women's cricket team, which defeated Sri Lanka in the final match. Following that, Indian athletes opened their account in sailing events with silver and bronze medals in Girl's Dinghy - ILCA4 and Men's Windsurfer- RS:Z.
Today, the Indian dressage team created history by winning India's third gold. The quartet of Sudipta Hajela, Divyakriti Singh, Hriday Vipul Chheda, and Anush Agarwalla defeated China to claim the top spot.
On the third day, Indian athletes managed significant victories in their initial rounds of matches in Chess and Boxing events. More medals are likely to be added to the tally before the end of the day.
