Workers in temples attached to the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) in the Kanyakumari region are fighting for their basic rights. An apathetic administration and neglect of past governments have left them bereft of a sanctioned salary, promotion and retirement benefits. They are also threatened with transfers and termination from service for voicing out their issues. Despite the presence of several right-wing organisations in the district, only CITU has taken up their struggles.
