As Kashmir enters 50th day of lockdown following the abrogation of Article 370, a lot is being said about the various issues that are plaguing the valley—from lack of access to medical facilities to the overall breakdown of communication. But one major cause of concern, that no one seems to be bothered about is the impact of this situation and the trauma it has caused to the people of Kashmir. In this interview, Gautam Navlakha speaks to clinical psychologist and psychotherapist Shobna Sonpar about the mental health issues being faced by the people of Kashmir—not just due to what they have faced in the past 50 days, but due to all the trauma they have had to live through in the past 30 years.
