WB: DYFI Embarks on Insaf Yatra to Demand Right to Work and Education
Kolkata: The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) is all set to hold Insaf Yatra (March for Justice) for jobless individuals in the state.
The 'Insaaf Yatra' started from Cooch Behar on November 3 and will reach Jalpaiguri on November 5 after visiting Alipurduar district on November 4. It will reach Siliguri in Darjeeling district on November 6 after passing through tea plantations, forests, and hilly roads, Meenakshi Mukhopadhyay, state secretary, DYFI, told People's Reporter.
The DYFI has called for a brigade rally on January 7. The members of the organisation will reach the brigade rally by 'Insaf Yatra' for two months from Cooch Behar to Kakdwip.
In an interview before the Insaaf Yatra began, Mukhopadhyay said, "The Central government and state governments are masterminds behind the crackdown on jobless individuals. They also wish to crush the unemployed as well. We are on our "Insaaf Yatra" to hold these two administrations accountable for the rights of the jobless.”
She said that people become imprisoned under the guise of caste and religion as soon as issues pertaining to employment and unemployment arise.
“Violence spreads like a poison in the psyche. A fictitious enemy sets up the curriculum and division. (Poets) Sukanta, Nazrul, and Rabindranath were omitted from the text. In the meanwhile, the cost of essential medications, cooking gas, fuel, rice, beans, and petrol is rising. Just cutting down on the price of your life,” she said.
DYFI leader of Jalpaiguri district, Bedabrata Ghosh, told People's Reporter, “DYFI will demand employment by doing 'Insaaf Yatra' to give a befitting answer to the thief's government. The youth of the state will take to the streets for two months from November 3 to voice this demand.”
Activities are running high across the. Road meetings, walling, and fund collection are going on in the district in support of the Insaaf Yatra. Workers' meetings are going on from Nagarakata to Dinhata, Panshkura to Maina, and Kolkata to Uluberia.
At a meeting in Nagrakata, DYFI leaders said the poor people in villages are suffering. “They are not getting money for 100 days of work, tea workers are not getting fair wages, youth have no work, there is anarchy in schools and colleges, and ministers are in jail,” they alleged.
DYFI leaders said the campaign for employment will be carried out at all booths in all blocks and districts across the state.
