Users Face Trouble with GST Websites
GST
As the country woke up to the Goods and Services Tax (GST), bringing 29 states and seven union territories under one tax regime, on Saturday, the netizens continued to face several technical glitches while surfing official GST websites.
The www.gst.gov.in, the parent website for GST related queries, kept throwing errors at several attempts while online visitors scrolled on the online GST gateway.
The Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) - a one stop solution for all indirect tax requirements, reportedly crashed due to heavy online traffic just when the country was entering into the GST tax regime.
The tax reform aimed at to unite the economy as one common market and pave way for the realization of goal of One Nation, One Tax, One Market, is expected to bring along “confusion and chaos” and the government has developed many websites to provide information related to the new tax regime for the user understanding.
The official website for all GST related queries is www.gst.gov.in and for all indirect tax related requirements www.gstn.org. To know about the GST council, one can login to www.gstcouncil.gov.in.
There are several other websites - government and privately owned – where an online user can go through helpful featured information and tax solution related to GST.
The government has put four slabs for both goods and services at 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%. GST is intended to ensure that all indirect tax rates and structures are common across the country and remove hurdles for businesses across all the states.
