Workers from hundreds of industrial units took over the streets of Bengaluru
Thousands of workers from all over the state of Karnataka arrived at Bengaluru for a May Day rally. At least 14 unions mobilised workers from various sectors. They represent industries like pharma, electronics, information technology, construction, sanitation, automobiles and garments, among others.
Participants were organised by a coalition of 14 unions
The unions came together under the banner of the Joint Committee of Trade Unions (JCTU)
The rally was a show of defiance against the anti-worker policies of the BJP
An atmosphere of camaraderie prevailed throughout the day
Workers from the formal and informal sectors turned up in large numbers
Their factories are located in places like Jigani, Peenya, Bommasandra and Dabaspet industrial areas
