For a long time, the tribals of Odisha have been opposing the allocation of mining leases in forest lands to private companies. The Mulnivasi Samajsevak Sangh (MSS) is leading this struggle. On September 18, they held a press conference at the Press Club of India in Delhi, where they discussed the ongoing movement in Niyamgiri, Odisha, and the police repression it has faced. They also demanded the protection of tribal rights and the release of arrested tribal activists.
