Sex CD Case

An Inspector of the Raipur Police crime branch was put on suspension on Monday for allegedly misbehaving with three women journalists outside a local court.

Inspector Gaurav Tiwari had reportedly misbehaved with the three women reporters from the local news channel when they tried to talk to journalist Vinod Verma, as he emerged out of the court after being produced there. On his way to the police vehicle, the women journalists tried to talk to him, but Tiwari allegedly tried to stop them, pushing them away physically.

After the incident, the journalists gathered at the local police control room to protest against the indecent act of Tiwari. Later, on their demand, the Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Shukla put Tiwari under suspension. Local journalists also marched up to the Civil Lines in the Chhattisgarh capital.

The Press Club President K.K. Sharma said in the wake of the incident, the executive committee of the club held an emergency meeting on Monday evening where the indecent act of the police officer was condemned.

The Chhattisgarh police, after arresting him had sought a five-day remand for Verma but the court agreed on two. He will be produced before the court again on Tuesday.

Verma had been arrested from Ghaziabad by the Chhattisgarh police in connection with the sensational sex CD case, involving PWD Minister Rajesh Munat. Though Verma has repeatedly said that he is being framed and that the police hasn't found any CDs from his place, the Chhattisgarh government has recommended a Central Bureau of Investigation into the 'sex CD' row.
