New Delhi: Early trends in the counting of votes in Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir Assembly elections showed the BJP doing even better than during the ‘Modi Wave’ in 2014, and the Congress-National Conference combine leading in J&K, with BJP looking better placed in Jammu, where more seats were added in the reorganisation.
At the time of writing, the Election Commission website was moving at snail’s pace, with the BJP shown as leading in 48-50 seats (it won 47 in 2014) for almost about two hours, with the Congress leads fluctuating between 33-36 seats. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which put up candidates in 89 seats has so far drawn a blank.
As per reports, till 12 p.m, on an average only about 25-30% of the total votes polled had been counted in Haryana, with several rounds still left.
Several Congress leaders were expressing apprehensions of the reasons for the ECI website on a ‘go- slow’ motion on updates, more so with technology at its disposal.
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh tweeted on X, questioning and tagging the ECI :
“Like the Lok Sabha elections, in Haryana we are again witnessing slowing down of uploading up-to- date trends on the ECI website. Is the BJP trying to build pressure on administration by sharing outdated and misleading trends
