The problems began after UP CM Yogi Adityanath made a public statement, and the National Commission for Schedule Castes(NCSC) chairperson, Ram Shankar Katheria sent letters to the Union Government, both demanding that caste reservation be made mandatory for the University, or the funds be stopped.
