Bharatiya Janata Party is hoping to sweep the upcoming general election as it tries to propagate a “Modi wave” – supported by utter lies and distorted facts. A section of people, who are forced into being trapped in manholes—thanks to their caste and class—are being ignored and forgotten among these lies. Deaths related to manual scavenging in India is a harsh reality that the government turns a blind eye to. In Tamil Nadu alone, 147 deaths related to manual scavenging were reported in the past year.
