"The decision of the NGT was not a wise one" - Lawyer, NGT

Following the judgment given by National Green Tribunal (NGT) of banning protests in Jantar Mantar, Newsclick interviewed environmental lawyer, Rahul Choudhary on the issue. Many questions were raised post this judgment. The question of right to protest, environmental democracy, noise pollution, and the question of where does one now go to voice their concerns. Rahul talks about the alternate path that could be taken to control noise pollution. He further discusses how Jantar Mantar is a power center. Sidelining the hard fact that protesters will be charged Rs. 50,000 per day for protesting in Ramlila ground (new venue for protests as told by NGT), changing the venue will hamper the effect protests have on authorities.
