The police orchestrated widespread raids, which resulted in the arrest of NewsClick's editor-in-chief, Prabir Purkayastha, under various sections of the anti-terror law, the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. On May 15, 2024, the Supreme Court pronounced the arrest as 'void' and ordered the release of Prabir Purkayastha.
