Montek's Plan: Selling Peoples Health to Private Corporations

Dr. Amit Sengupta of Jana Swasthya Abhiyan (Peoples Health Movement) discusses with Newsclick how Planning Commission’s Health chapter in its Twelfth Five Year Plan document is nothing but a proposal to gradually wind up the public health care system and hand it over to corporate hospitals! India has already one of the most privatised health care systems in the world and the Planning Commissions' proposal seems to be more government financing if private heath care companies in the name of peoples heath. Such private or manages care where the government shells out the money and private health care companies provision the care has failed all over the world including the US, which has one of the worst health indicators among developed countries with one of the highest health care expenditures.
