Elections 2019: CPI(M) Releases First List of Seats to be Contested in Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the CPI(M) had contested on 97 seats in total. In the list released today, the party has announced its decision to contest on 45 seats.

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has released the first list of seats to be contested in the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections. In the list released today, the party has announced its decision to contest on 45 seats from Assam, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, West Bengal and the Union Territory of Lakshadweep.

In Assam, Biraj Deka and Amiya kumar Handique will be contesting from Kokrajhar and Lakhimpur. Sukhbir Singh from Hisar in Haryana and Daleep Kaith from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh are going to contest from the respective states.

In Kerala, the CPI(M) has announced to contest the LS elections on 16 out of a total 20 seats. K. P. Satheesh Chandran from Kasargode, P.K. Sreemathi from Kannur, P.Jayarajan from Vadakara, A.Pradeep Kumar from Kozhikode, V.P.Sanu from Malappuram, P.K. Biju from Alathoor, M.B. Rajesh from Palakkad, Innocent from Chalakudy, P.Rajeev from Ernakulam, V.N. Vasavan from Kottayam, A.M. Arif from Alappuzha, Veena George from Pathanamthitta, K.N. Balagopal from Kollam and  A. Sampath from Attingal. In Idukki and Ponnani constituencies, CPI(M) has decided to support two independent candidates Joice George and P.V Anwar.

According to the first list, from Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha and Punjab, CPI(M) will be contesting on one seat each. Girijesh Singh Sengar from Rewa, MP; Jeeva Pandu Gavit from Dindori, Maharashtra; Janardan Pati from Bhubneswar, Odisha; and Raghunath Singh from Anandpur Sahib, Punjab are the candidates announced by the party.

From Tamil Nadu and Tripura, two seats each have been announced. Su. Venkatesan from Madurai and P.R. Natarajan from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu and Jitendra Chowdhury from Tripura East and Sankar Prasad Datta from Tripura West. Sherif Khan will be contesting from CPI(M) in Lakshadweep.

In West Bengal, the party has announced to contest on 16 seats. The seats and candidates announced are- Bhagirath Roy from Jalpaiguri, Md. Salim from Raiganj, Baddrudaza Khan from Murshidabad, Rama Biswas from Ranaghat, Alokesh Das from Bangaon, Nepaldeb Bhattacharya from Dum Dum, Dr. Faud Halim from Diaamond Harbour, Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya from Jadavpur, Dr. Nandini Mukherji from Kolkata Dakshin, Dr. Maksuda Khatun from Uluberia, Pradip Saha from Hooghly, Sakti Mohan Malik from Arambag, Sunil Khan from Bishnupur, Iswar Chandra Das from Bardaman Purba, Abhas Roy Choudhury Bardaman Durgapur and Dr. Rezaul Karim from Birbhum.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the CPI(M) had contested on 97 seats in total.
