Every child is taught that all people are equal before law, despite their connections or position. But, in India, we are constantly witnessing how those who are responsible for ensuring the rule of law are taking the law into their hands- they become the investigators, the lawyers and also the judge. Professor Satish Deshpande, who teaches Sociology at Delhi University, tells NewsClick that we are living in a world where the rulers believe in authoritarian populism.
