The four labour codes notified by the government on Nov 21 grossly undermine workers' rights and protections, says CITU National Secretary K N Umesh.

The government notified all four labour codes on November 21, that have come into immediate effect. While the government is terming these as “pro-labour”, worker organisations continue to oppose them. Newsclick spoke with CITU National Secretary K N Umesh on this issue.

Umesh alleged that the government had undermined workers' rights and protections by implementing these labor codes. Terming it a "genocidal attack," he said trade unions would launch a historic nationwide protest and disobedience movement on November 26th. The struggle will continue until the codes are fully withdrawn, he added.
