Jaitley Justifying ABVP Violence in University Campuses
ABVP Violence in University Campuses
“You believe, you have free speech to assault the sovereignty of the country, then be ready to concede free speech to counter that.”, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said addressing students in London School of Economics.
Well, now at least we know that pelting of stones, brutally hitting teachers, students and journalists, abusing and giving threats of rape to women, are all a part of their “free speech”. The Delhi university students have been feeling threatened ever since the ABVP ensured forced cancellation of a seminar followed by two days of violence against teachers, students and media persons. On the other hand, the ABVP goons are threatening students across the Delhi University campus.
Gurmehar Kaur, daughter of an Army officer killed in Kargil, circulated a message of peace. She is being trolled by the bhakts and is getting rape threats. Even cricketer Virendar Sehwag and actor Randeep Hooda trolled her. The “free speech” includes threats the of Raping Women. An example of such “free speech” can be seen below.
This has now become a part of BJP's response to any critical voice. BJP’s IT cell used sexual violence and threats for trolling any woman who they wanted to attack. Calling anybody ‘anti-national’, is another tactic. The right-wing women trolls threaten other women, that they would get them raped.
While the threats and trolling continues, on a positive note, students across the country changed their pictures on social networking sites, in solidarity with DU. Hashtag of “I’m not afraid of ABVP” is trending, countering the politics of fear and hate. The students and youth of this nation are standing up against ABVP’s politics of hate, and violence.
