Halftime Wrap
Akbar Nawas will be quite disappointed with what his team have put on in the first half. They went down to a soft penalty and then two down to some slick play (and luck break) for Goa. They aren’t really going. The trials of a long season, the weight of expectation and the heat of Bhubaneswar have all undoubtedly played a part. On the other hand, Corominas, or to give him his fan preferred moniker, Scorominas has been outstanding. He has been at the end of everything productive for Goa and despite their 2-0 lead they’ve looked to keep going. We await the second half.
Halftime GOT Reference
Being as it is Game of Thrones season, perhaps Chennai City can take heart from this:
Never give in.
Second Half Begins
45’ We kick off the second half. And Chennai need to do some socks pulling and soul searching to find their way back. They haven’t been this deep in the trenches all season but now they are and they have to dig themselves out.
Chennai Start With Corners
46’ Chennai have a corner. Mourtada Fall clears, but badly and its out for another.
Three Corners, No Result
48’ Saviour Gama’s clearance gives Chennai a third corner and after some shot passing the ball comes into a dangerous area. Cleared but its pinged back long, and Nestor is flagged offside. He missed the ball completely, but he looked on side.
Wow, a Foul Throw
49’ Foul throw!!! The referee has whistled for a foul throw!! How often do you see that happen? Not the foul throw bit. That happens at least thrice every game across the world. Referees rarely call it though.
Goa in Control
53’ The game has really petered out. Chennai can’t get anything going and Goa are happy just keeping them at an arm’s distance. It’s smart play.
Lenny In Form
54’ Lenny Rodrigues has been outstanding today. He wins the ball off Nestor and sparks off a counter. The ball is played to Jackichand on the right who unselfishly plays it brilliantly across to Coro who should Scoro but instead drags it wide. Oh.
Sandro Sends Freekick Wide
55’ Immediately at the other end, Chennai have a freekick 35 yards out. Sandro blasts it high and wide. He looked to go to the far post but ended up going very wide.
Jackichand's Role
This is why Jackichand Singh remains in an around the national setup for India. He has the tendency to go missing and sort of accept things on the pitch but every once in a while he will put something on a plate for the forwards. Keeps you on your toes.

Invisible Gordillo, Manzi
57’ Nestor Gordillo will be disappointed with his game today. He has been prone to mistakes when he has the ball -- often trying too hard -- and his inability to drag the game to the wings has rendered Manzi invisible. No service no game.
Chennai Tiki Taka in Vain
59’ Goa are happy to let Chennai do all the tiki taka. They are launching some quick, fast counters and it’s all credit to Chennai’s youthful energy that is keeping the scoreline from turning ugly.
Rare Nestor Move
60’ Finally, Nestor goes wide on the left, collects and drives in with a brilliant cross. It is cleared but that’s much better.
Bora Entry
Paul Masefield on Gaurav Bora getting that spot in the national team: If you’re old enough, you’re good enough. If you’re good enough, you’re old enough. Touche mon ami. Time to get Bora to buy us some b@#rs.

Wasted Freekick by Sandro
61’ Chennai have a freekick on the right, 30 yards out. Sandro wastes it. From a similar position, in the final of the SAFF Women’s Championship, Dalima Chhibber scored a screamer. If you’ve seen it you’ll never forget it. Go see it.
Freekick and a Substitution
65’ Goa have a freekick in a promising position. Cheap foul to have given away. And, Chennai make their substitution, Sriram replaced by Ameeruddin.
Mauro Saves Freekick
66’ From the freekick, Mauro saves. Pena’s shot was low and too close to the near post.
Romario Hits Crossbar
67’ Chennai chance. Romario shoots from 25 yards out, and the ball, swerving, moving, dipping, heaving, hits the crossbar. Mohammad Nawaz was beaten all ends up.
Goa Score Third Goal
69’ Goa have a third, and Chennai City’s dream season is ending on a somewhat sour note. They are carved open through the centre, and Brandon runs on to a brilliant pass and slots it low into the far corner. Game. Set. Final.

Bugging out guys. Too much power from Goa. This game is done and done. That Jacki cracker off his left foot from the right wing just sums up what the night has been. Well played FC Goa. #inittowinit
