The world’s two biggest child nutrition programmes – the Integrated Child Development Scheme and the Mid-day Meal programme – run by the Government of India suffered a severe jolt in March and April this year as it failed to provide the allocated foodgrain to these schemes during the sudden and ill-conceived nationwide lockdown.
