59 Districts Report No New Case in Last 14 Days; Doubling Rate Now 7.5 Days
With 1,540 fresh cases of novel coronavirus in 24 hours, Monday marks the highest single day spike in cases of infection in the country. As on evening till five, the cumulative figure of the virus has climbed to 17,656, among whom 14,255 are “active” cases in hospitals and 2,842 are cured, according to Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The death toll due to COVID-19, disease caused by the novel coronavirus has now reached 559 after registering 40 deaths in a single day.
Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) official on Monday said that 80 per cent of the infection cases are asymptomatic or show mild symptoms.
Speaking on the severity of the cases, the official added 15 per cent of those infected get converted into severe cases and 5 per cent into critical cases.
