'Afghans will Decide Fate of their Country'
In this interview with Newsclick after the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan, Bharath Raj Muthu Kumar, India's former ambassador to Tajikistan, Belarus and Lithuania, says Afghanistan is a diverse country and its people have to resolve their problems internally. He says the US and the Taliban are sure to be consulting each other, and suggests India carefully pick allies to not end up on the wrong side of history. It is impossible to dictate terms to another country, he reminds. Afghans will have to thrash out their concerns, including the type of government they want and how it deals with questions related to minorities, ethnicities, religion, and other issues.
